Dallas-Pierce-Quintero see designing for culture as an essential tool for supporting local communities. Their refurbishment of Enfield’s Dugdale Arts Centre celebrates this, by establishing a permanent community hub, and providing flexible, inclusive spaces that make cultural activities accessible to all.
Using Enfield as a focal point, this engaging afternoon of presentations and talks will explore the wider role of culture in town-centre regeneration and bringing communities together - a reflection of the LFA theme of “in common”.
Following a welcome from Cllr Chinelo Anyanwu (Cabinet Member for Public Spaces, Culture and Local Economy), three architecture practices working in the borough - Dallas-Pierce-Quintero, Fisher Cheng and Jan Kattein Architects – will each give a presentation on their community-led work in Enfield.
The presenters will be joined by some of the community groups and creatives, who are using these spaces and were involved in their design – including REACT and Bloqs - for a chaired discussion with the audience reflecting on this work.
This will be followed by DAC’s Museum Lates.
