Battersea Power Station public realm – the story of a remarkable new city destination

If a new landscape works, it feels as if it has always been there. Yet the transformation of the post-industrial landscape surrounding Battersea Power Station has been a decade-long labour of love for LDA Design. The London landmark opened to the public in October 2022 as a new cultural, retail and leisure destination. Since then, it has welcomed over five million visitors. Beautiful public realm at this new riverside neighbourhood features expanses of prairie grasses providing an opportunity for the growing local community and visitors to connect with nature and wildlife. The tour will explore Prospect Park, Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street, and Circus West Village, ending in the six-acre Power Station Park in front of the Grade II* listed building. There is plenty of seating throughout. Ben Walker, the lead landscape designer for Battersea Power Station, will lead the tour, which starts at the spacious plaza outside the new Battersea Power Station Underground.
