Join us for an evening to celebrate our newest space, a two storey 200m2 classroom set in an educational community garden in the heart of the Canada Water Masterplan. The evening will consists of activities, talks and a panel discussion from those involved in co-creating the space, including; developers, contractors, design professionals and local young people who have taken part in the build.
The Paper Garden classroom is currently one of London’s biggest circular economy buildings and the only two storey cavity wall cordwood building in the UK. Conscious of the urgent need to reduce the carbon footprint of the construction process itself, the design takes a radical approach to sustainability, targeting a negative carbon footprint through the re-use of construction materials.
Using the power of collectivity we have worked with over 3000 people living or working in Canada Water to create the space. On the site of an old daily mail printing shed we have been exploring alternative construction processes through bringing people together to learn new skills, inspire each other and create a local oasis within a rapidly changing urban environment.
