Creating Common Ground: Placemaking with Young People

One of the main challenges in the built environment is how to create social and sustainable places with genuinely thriving communities.

This panel discussion will consider how creating common ground between built environment professionals, local and national decision makers and young people may provide the key to creating such spaces and explore how young people can be empowered to help shape built environments and take active roles in making places.

The expert panel of built environment professionals from the private, public and third sectors will share examples of best practice and then discuss the techniques, challenges, and benefits of involving young people in decision making and what needs to change to make youth participation more widespread.

The event will be chaired by Oliver Deed, a social value, placemaking and community engagement specialist and Managing Director at ECF.
