A day of talks and panel discussion. The morning session will explore the design and cultural history of hospitality spaces including pubs, bars and nightclubs, followed in the afternoon by the perspectives of contemporary designers working with chefs and restaurant owners. Organised by the Zaha Hadid Foundation with the Modern Interiors Research Centre, Kingston University, to accompany the exhibition 'Zaha’s Moonsoon: An Interior in Japan'. Completed in 1990 in Sapporo, Japan, the Moonsoon restaurant and bar was one of Hadid’s first realised projects. The interior was an extravagant explosion of colour and biomorphic forms themed around fire and ice. The exhibition charts the development of the project through drawings, paintings, models and furniture.
Coffee and tea provided (please make your own arrangements for lunch). The day will end with a drinks reception to coincide with our Studio Late evening, part of the LFA's Clerkenwell Destination.
This is symposium is free, but places must be booked.
