Studies concerning Petticoat Lane Market and its history involve the conversion of diverse historical narratives and their associated symbols into choreographed movements. The intention is to recreate these movements using fabrics of varying colours and shapes. The dance movements are predicated upon the ultimate colourful performance.
Here, textile tapes of varying widths are repurposed into something that may be
utilised in the garden or as a prop in a dance performance. It is anticipated that several historical stories and figures will be re-enacted. The final performance is based on motion studies conducted at the pre-workshop with the help of professionals in the area. Research is done on whether this background colour can be used for colour individuals and their lives.
The workshops will take place on 15th July (two sessions - 11am-1pm, 2pm-4pm) and the performance will take place on Friday 21 July. All are welcome to drop in!
Due to rail strikes, any events planned as part of the Tales of (UP)Rising programme on Sat, 22 July have been rescheduled to Fri, 21 July
