A dialogue for South Asian Muslims and friends
What are the key barriers and opportunities for South Asian Muslims in engaging with ecological issues?
This deep discussion examines the barriers to local initiatives in the context of Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. The reserve emerged from a WWII bomb site of the former St. Judes Church (1846-1940) that has since been enclosed with a fence and largely closed off from the communities around it.
East London has many communities who have connections to South Asian countries on the forefront of ecological crises.
This facilitated dialogue will ask questions about the context of Bethnal Green, and hear perspectives from within the South Asian Muslim communities about the ecological crises facing us.
Facilitator: Muzammal Hussain, Wisdom in Nature.
Co-facilitator: Saif Osmani, Artist and Trustee, Bethnal Green Nature Reserve.
The discussion will take place in a semi-covered outdoor area at the reserve from 5.30pm-7pm. The address is: Bethnal Green Nature Reserve, Middleton St, Bethnal Green, London E2 9RR. Drinks and light snacks will be provided.
