The Finsbury Business Centre (FBC) and Central District Alliance (CDA) will host a walking tour of "our commons" - highlighting Clerkenwell's local history, alongside the more contemporary public realm enhancements that contribute to the area's sense of place. The Finsbury Business Centre (FBC) is a flexible work-space hub set up in 1983 on the site of a former 1930’s printworks, which now also houses the London Metropolitan Archives. FBC Director and historian Ian Hudson will kick off the walking tour in FBC's courtyard. We will then move to Robert's Place, the location of an emerging pocket park that CDA are exploring with Islington Council, before weaving through the landmark Clerkenwell Green, one of Islington's oldest public spaces. We will showcase the public realm enhancements that are making it greener and safer for cyclists and pedestrians, before heading through Farringdon, where CDA are working with Islington to deliver biodiversity enhancements at St Johns Garden. Finally, just in time for lunch we will end at Cowcross Yards, where KerbFood's traders activate the vibrant local market space.
