Jacquline, winner of the Brixton Community Cinema's Open Call, presents Drylongso (1998) dir. Cauleen Smith 86"
Drylongso is a celebration of comedy, thriller, coming-of-age, and artistic expression. It challenges the themes of gender identity, race, and class which all still resonate today.
"The film recently underwent a restoration and was re-released in the US earlier this year. The restoration process resulted in new arresting pops of colour and a hyper-saturated palette. I would like to take this opportunity to bring Drylongso to the big screen, specifically my neighbourhood of Brixton, together, to experience the cinematic celebration of black female creativity." - Jacqueline Wang
This event is part of wider programme of activity animating the Views on the Atlantic project in collaboration with LFA and supported by Lambeth Council and Brixton BID.
