Tour through the Crystal Palace Concert Platform with Ian Ritchie the world-renowned architect who designed this much-loved local landmark.
In the mid 1990's backed by funding from the Arts Council and National Lottery, an architectural competition was launched by Bromley Council to design a new permanent stage within Crystal Palace Park. Ian Ritchie Architects, now ritchie*studio, won unanimous approval with their proposal for a “simple structure causing minimal disturbance” to the rich and complex Paxton landscape. Using Corten steel and the World’s first outdoor application of an ‘active acoustic system’ Ian Ritchie Architects designed a structure that forms a part of the physical and cultural landscape of Crystal Palace Park.
As a part of the London Festival Architecture we are delighted to invite Ian Ritchie to the Concert Platform to lead a tour and share his thoughts on this incredible space.
