Join the Migration Museum for “The Places that Make Us” a day-long festival event with creative workshops, tours, talks and film. Discover the people and places that make Lewisham the vibrant and diverse community it is today.
Lewisham is one of the most culturally diverse places in the country and one of the key contributing factors is migration. This can be seen in the people, businesses and architecture of this London borough. Explore these stories in the fun and immersive Taking Care of Business exhibition. Get hands on by collaging your memories into our Lewisham Memory Map with Kim Chin. Discover the story of the famous Mr Pink’s house with a talk from Edward Adonteng. And hear more about Lewisham’s self-build movement with a film by Tim Oshodi, followed by a discussion about what more can be done to create sustainable community led housing.
The museum is also leading a paid-for walking tour of Lewisham, Deptford and Greenwich, featuring rich contemporary stories of migration and uncovering the histories of global imperialist conquests, legacies of colonialism and how these have shaped the architecture of this ever- changing borough. Tickets are sold on the listing below.
